Sure, there are plenty of architecture companies out there. Many of them are technically proficient, some are creative and provide a good value.

All that being said, at MJM+A we feel that on top of these factors—which frankly are a given with any successful architect/client relationship—there are three factors that make us uniquely qualified to handle the opportunity to work with you and perform at an exceptionally high level.

Creativity on a new level… Yours.

What makes a structure or environment singularly unique? The answer is you. Whether you a looking to start a restaurant, move into a new home, restore a building or any other architectural project, the majority of the times we start the process with our custom MJM+A questionnaire. People take a look at the questions and while there are some that are pretty practical in nature, the document is sprinkled with other questions that may look a little crazy to you, but they gives us a pretty clear picture of requirements, taste, lifestyle, passion and more. In fact if you ask us, we can pretty much rationalize any of the questions. Because in the end, even though architecture is a unique combination of aesthetics, engineering, sociology, and psychology, it really is all about you. So whether you like Tony Bennett, the Who or the Dead is a clue into the DNA of your tastes. Or who in the family wakes up first can tell us a lot about lifestyle. Or what kind of car you would buy with an unlimited budget is pretty telling when it comes to aspirations. All of this affects how we create the environment that will make you the happiest and most productive.

Getting a job finished. Truly.

With many architecture companies, the job ends when the drawings are approved. However, designing an environment is actually one third of the battle (and make no mistake, it sometimes feels like a struggle) to finish a project and accomplish something truly great.

The practical side of bringing the design to life through construction administration is something that we have been implementing for years… to help bring the project in on time and on budget. This way we can mitigate the invariable surprises that occur and handle change orders on the fly.

The third part of the equation is something that is rarely found with architecture companies, and that is plans processing, code consulting and resolution so that clients can occupy the premises as quickly as possible. Our capability is unique in that our Oculus Consulting division not only has the long term municipal relationships and unparalleled knowhow necessary to cut through the sometimes extensive red tape, but they are literally in the next room. So, excuses around “not being able to get in touch quickly” simply do not exist at MJM+A. We truly complete the job and in record time… instead of leaving it up to chance.

People that really like working with clients… and each other.

Here’s how you can judge what it’s like to work with MJM+A Architects/Oculus Consulting. Our shortest tenured partner has been with the firm for 18 years. Founding partner Michael J. Macaluso, along with veteran partner Ryan P. Scipione, have created a work atmosphere of creativity, flexibility, inclusion and commitment to client excellence. This fun, can-do attitude extends down to every person on the staff.

And in terms of our clients, we love them. And they reciprocate. Many of our clients have been with us for years and years… bringing us directly into the next project and referring us to friends, family and associates. Become one and you’ll find out for yourself why we have such special relationships.

Giving Back

SEAN F. MELLON SCHOLARSHIP FUND

MJM+A is proud to be a major participant and sponsor of SFMSF, honoring a great young man who was taken from us too soon and ensuring his legacy. Each year we recognize achievement by an architecture student at an accredited college program within the United States and reward that individual by providing the financial backing so that his or her education continues.

ARCHITOTS

Part of why we do what we do at MJM+A Architects is to generate the ability to give back to the community, and that was the thinking behind Architots.

Architots allows children to express themselves and build on their instincts of designing and imagining. As designers we view it as our responsibility to encourage and challenge children to not only imagine a better world, but to spark the passion to design it.
